Tuesday training sessions move to Aotea Lagoon this season
15 Apr 2013 at 8:28 pm.
We are going to move our Tuesday trainings for primary, intermediate and college age groups to AOTEA LAGOON this season. This will start from tomorrow (16 April), so we'll see you there as follows:
4.15pm: Primary and Intermediate age
4.50pm: College age
With Alex Moore and school fields closed, the likelihood of further ground closures during the winter, having to share with football, and the uncertainty for where training is each week we will make training at Aotea Lagoon every Tuesday. This way you will know that training will be on wet or fine - it won't be cancelled.
See you tomorrow at AOTEA LAGOON. Park at the southern end of the lagoon as per normal.

New course for the Maiden and Perston races
15 Apr 2013 at 2:19 pm.
Here we go - this Saturday afternoon we have the Maiden and Perston races to kick off our cross country season!
Please note due to the weather we have a new venue for this year, at Onslow College (Burma Road, Johnsonville. Or use the pedestrian entrance on Bannister Ave.)
Meet in main car park in the centre of Onslow College. The start and finish lines will be along side.
Course 1: the short course for the kids is about 800m long and includes the middle field - and a bit more.
Course 2: the long course (both the Maiden and Perston Memorial races) will be two laps (nominally 1.1km per lap), and will include the top sports field and the path to John Sims Drive. The Maiden for for those who have never won a harriers race before (either for fastest time or on handicap); the Perston Memorial is for those who have won a race before.
These courses are not suitable for spikes!
Schedule: the kids race will be as soon as possible after 2pm (be ready to race at 2pm!), followed immediately by the Maiden and then the Perston Memorial.
And don't forget, after the races there is an afternoon tea at the clubrooms (please bring a plate).

Harriers open day: Saturday 6 April
24 Mar 2013 at 11:01 am; updated 5 Apr 2013 at 11:36 am.
The harriers season is upon us!
Due to Easter, we are opening slightly later than usual: Saturday 6 April. We are inviting all returning and new senior and master members (i.e. those 20 and over) to come along on this day, and see what it's all about. We meet at our clubrooms on Bannister Ave at 1.45 for a welcome and notices, then split into groups and go for a run or walk at 2pm. There are groups to suit all abilities, from the walkers and 30 minute runners to the over 60 minute groups.
There will be no programme for the juniors (age five up to the under 20s) on Saturday 6th. Your opening session will be on the following Tuesday night (9th April), and will be held beside the juniors' training session from 4.15pm to 5pm. It will be the perfect opportunity to come along and give it a go.
The normal Saturday juniors' programme will resume the following Saturday (13th April).
After two Saturdays running from the clubrooms, we are straight into our first races -- the Maiden and Perston 2km cross country club race at Newlands College on the 20th April, and the popular Shaw Baton inter-club relays at Battle Hill on the 27th April.
Things you should know:
Update: we will now have runs/activities for any juniors who want to come along to this open day.
