BAYS RELAY - Sat 8 August, women 12:30, men 1:00

It's all on this weekend, with a really fun event along our stunning south coast and around the corner.  There are 5 in each team, with each lap being between 4-5 km starting at Island Bay and finishing at Evans Bay Parade.  Info is on the Athletics Wellington website at http://www.athleticswellington.org.nz/News/bays-relay-info-for-saturday-8-august

Please be at Island Bay at least 30 mins before your race start to pick up your bib - earlier means less stress for team members who get there on time!

List of teams came by an earlier email.  At the time I write this there is one spot open in the composite team - let Jo (021 976116) or Mark (handles.cloud@icloud.com) know if you are interested.

Stellar results from NZXC Champs

Olympic had seven members competing at the NZ cross country champs. Representing Wellington were Kevin Pugh (7th M40-44), Michelle Van Looy (4th W40-44), Phoebe Van Boheemen (18th WU18), Michaela Walker (20th WU20), Seamus Kane (31st MU20) and Jo Crawford (10th SW). In the younger grades representing our club was Bex Jenkins (4th GU13).

In the teams, Wellington was 1st M35-49, 1st W35-49 (Michelle), 3rd WU18 (Phoebe and Michaela), 2nd MU18, and 2nd MU20.

Kids Cross Country Series event , Sun 16 August, Grenada North Park
Open to all from pre-school through to year 8s. $7 to enter at www.athleticshub.co.nz 
This is Olympic's turn to host, so we will need helpers.  Can people please contact Rama if they're able to help (rama@athleticswellington.org.nz) in any of the following areas

• Baking
• BBQ
• Registration
• Marshalling
• Setting up the course

As you can see, lots of volunteers needed so we really need people to put their hand up.  It's a great fundraiser for our club.

 

Wellington Road Champs and Club Road Champs - Sat 22 August, Wainuiomata

Doubles as both Wellington Champs **and** Club Champs.  We are going to have medals again for the road champs (like we did for cross country), but we are going to hand these out at the Philip Shield (club event) on Saturday 12 September with an afternoon tea after that event. 

 

National Road Relays are coming up in Christchurch on 3 Oct 

It is the 75th anniversary and it is a blast running from the edge of town over the Port Hills to Akaroa.  We have accommodation lined up but the places are not unlimited -- contact Brian Rusbridge Brian.Rusbridge@nzct.org.nz to sort things out. Start looking for flights now - there is as much competition in finding the cheapest flight as there is in the race itself!
