Club News

Weekly Newsletter - the end is nigh and you need to be gone by lunchtime 17 Sep 2015.

Perston Baton Relay, Karori Park,  19 September, ** 12:30 **
We are getting to the end of the season, but to keep you on your toes the last club event starts a little earlier.  Like last week, the teams are drawn up on the day and matched to ensure close racing, and again there is a choice of 1, 2 or 3 laps around a 2.3 km course (includes a neat little off road section down the back).  This time the strategy shifts from getting each member placing well amongst people running the same number of laps to being fastest as a team across the whole race.

We need help setting up -- it's a pretty easy one to mark out so coming just half an hour earlier would get you the warm fuzzy feeling of helping out your fellow club members.

Some results from last week
Mark is the only one who really knows how the results for these multi-distance races are worked out but the evidence that he does have some sort of method can be seen in the results from last weeks Philp Shield: results.

There are also pretty impressive results from club members in the Pelorus half which was on Sunday -- lots of podium places and PB's: results.  Most of the results for club members are there, but I know one or two are not.   On that note, last week I missed mentioning Phoebe van Boheemen who ran in the W18 section of the National Road Champs in Tauranga - well done!

National Road Relays are coming up in Christchurch on 3 Oct
About time I changed the text in this note - it really is nearly here.  A big group of us, along with some Hutt Valley folk, will be based at Christchurch Boys boarding halls for our assault on the 75th anniversary race.  Hopefully you all have travel sorted out and the teams are settling down.  The must-do task is to confirm, before Fri 18th,  with Mike Binkhorst (binkhorst.p_m@xtra.co.nz) if you want to attend the dinner on the Friday night at the restaurant just down the road http://www.trevinos.co.nz

End of Season Prizegiving and Dinner, Saturday 17 October
The last organised club day is zooming up and it will be followed by prizegiving and then the annual club dinner at 1841 Bar & Restaurant (Top Field Function Area), Johnsonville at 7pm.  You need to let Geraldine know if you are going to the dinner -- RSVP to secretary@olympicharriers.org.nz.

Sat 19 Sep - Perston Baton Relay - Karori Park
Sat 26 Sep - Pack run/walk from the Clubrooms
Sat 03 Oct - National Road Relays, Christchurch
